For in-vitro laboratory research only

SS-31 is listed here as a research material. It is not for human or veterinary consumption, and nothing on this page is medical advice or dosing guidance. PeptideCompare is paid by flat supplier fees — never by sales commission or referral — so a price ranks by its number, not by who pays. We do not sell, test or verify any product, and quality or CoA labels are suppliers’ own claims. Always check the final price, documentation and legality with the supplier yourself.

Research profile

About SS-31 in the lab

SS-31 (elamipretide) is an aromatic-cationic tetrapeptide that concentrates in the inner mitochondrial membrane. It has been in clinical trials for mitochondrial disorders and is widely used in mitochondrial-dysfunction research.

Proposed mechanism

Binds cardiolipin, stabilising cristae structure and electron-transport supercomplexes, and reducing reactive oxygen species production in stressed mitochondria.

Structure note

Aromatic-cationic tetrapeptide.

Typical research themes

  • Cardiolipin binding
  • Electron transport chain
  • Mitochondrial ROS
