Use the filters to pick a size and presentation (vial, pen or serum) and compare like for like, or view every size on a £ per mg basis. Delivery is shown separately because it varies by supplier and order size. Offers whose outbound link failed our last check stay listed but rank below working links.

Suppliers are being onboarded. This comparison will populate as listings go live. Everything below — the research profile, molecular facts and guides — is available now.

For in-vitro laboratory research only

GDF-8 (Myostatin) is listed here as a research material. It is not for human or veterinary consumption, and nothing on this page is medical advice or dosing guidance. PeptideCompare is paid by flat supplier fees — never by sales commission or referral — so a price ranks by its number, not by who pays. We do not sell, test or verify any product, and quality or CoA labels are suppliers’ own claims. Always check the final price, documentation and legality with the supplier yourself.

Research profile

About GDF-8 (Myostatin) in the lab

Myostatin (GDF-8) is secreted mainly by skeletal muscle and acts as a brake on muscle growth; natural loss-of-function mutations cause markedly increased muscle mass in several species. Recombinant protein is used as a reference ligand in receptor and inhibitor studies.

Proposed mechanism

Released from its latent complex, mature myostatin binds ActRIIB with ALK4/5 co-receptors and activates SMAD2/3, suppressing myogenic gene programmes.

Typical research themes

  • Ligand–receptor assays
  • SMAD2/3 signalling
  • Muscle growth regulation

This profile is a short, general summary of publicly discussed science. It is not exhaustive, not peer-reviewed by PeptideCompare, and is not medical advice. PeptideCompare provides no dosing, protocol or usage guidance — nothing here is for human or veterinary use.
